Dmitry Lvovich Smirnov – the founder of the Legal Boutique “SDL” and the Managing Partner.

Dmitry graduated from the international relations department of Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) of the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Russia in 2002 (including the Khmer (Cambodian) and English languages). In 2004 Dmitry graduated with an LL.M. degree (cum laude) in the European Law Institute of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Dmitry is a life member of Clare Hall College of the University of Cambridge since 2006. He is the author of numerous publications on various issues of international law, European law and civil law.
Dmitry is a highly qualified specialist not only in dispute resolution, but also in the area of mergers and acquisitions, contract work, joint ventures, corporate governance and internal control procedures, due diligence projects, and corporate restructuring.
He has years of experience in leading law firms. In particular, he was a Senior Associate in Monastyrsky, Zyuba and Partners Law Firm, the Moscow office of Baker Botts LLP, Senior Associate in Muranov, Chernyakov and Partners Law Firm, was the head of International Practice at SAMETA law firm, and was a partner at Tilling and Peters Law Firm.
Dmitry has been successfully working with Russian and foreign clients, such as: the Russian Federation (represented by the Ministry of Justice); OAO NK Rosneft, OAO FGC UES, OAO Gazprom, OAO Gazprombank, Nornickel, KM-Invest, Fortum, ORICA Mining Services, EBRD, Marshall Capital Partners, Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan (Kazakhstan) and NBK-Bank (Moscow), GMAC, EFES, “Basic Element” group of companies, Nerl, OAO Rostelecom, Georgian Glass and Mineral Water Co. N.V., Salford Ltd., Microsoft, Vietnamese State Equipment Assembly Corporation, etc.
Dmitry is fluent in English. He also studied German and Cambodian.


Pavel Egorov – SDL Legal boutique Partner since July 2022, joined our legal team in April 2017. Pavel has a great experience in representing the clients during court proceedings in arbitration courts and general jurisdiction courts, has an experience in representing the clients in the Court of the Eurasian Economic Union.

For five years, Pavel has successfully represented Russian and foreign companies – producers and suppliers of mining equipment and specialists in customs clearance, in court disputes in front of customs, tax and other administrative authorities, as well as in bankruptcy court cases.

Pavel graduated with honors from the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, holds a master’s degree in law and diploma of qualified interpreter in professional communications. He is fluent in Russian and English. He also learned French.


The firm’s lawyers are multilingual legal professionals, holding degrees of leading universities, such as MGIMO University (Moscow State Institute of International Relations), MSAL (Kutafin Moscow State Law University), and Russian State Social University.
